Beaulieu Blue

Found written in longhand on the back of a cocktail napkin, circa 1918:Beaulieu

“Although you insist, Robert, that you did not purposefully follow me through the French doors into the Gold Room, and meant merely to venture onto the veranda to behold Easton Bay, the fact remains that your eyes were not on Newport’s pristine coastline, but on the bust line of my ravishing dress. Per your request, asking me to identify its particular shade of blue, I have given the matter some thought and decided, in honor of the enduring glamour of the estate (although its latest proprietors are another matter), to name it ‘Beaulieu.’ Beaulieu Blue. Ostensibly yours, L.R.”
